How to measure sit bones: Place a piece of corrugated cardboard on a firm chair. Sit normally for 30 seconds, then stand. Measure the distance between the centers of the two indentations. Add 20–25 mm for road cycling saddles. This is your optimal saddle width.

Unlike conventional flat or minimally contoured saddles that compress sensitive nerve pathways, every Selle SMP saddle is shaped to conform dynamically to human pelvic anatomy:
- Patented Eagle-Beak Nose ("Becco d'aquila"): The downward-sloping beak provides a stable, flat base when sliding forward into deep aerodynamic drops without crushing genital soft tissue.
- Full-Length Central Relief Channel: Eliminates compression on the pudendal nerve, perineal arteries, and dorsal veins—clinically validated to preserve natural microvascular blood circulation and eliminate numbness.

How to Set Up & Measure
To verify your sit-bone measurement at home, sit upright on a piece of corrugated cardboard placed on a firm, flat chair for 30 seconds. Measure the distance between the center points of the two depressions in centimeters. Compare against the 9.0 – 13.0 cm (3.5 – 5.1 in) specification above.
Initial Setup Tip: Begin by mounting the saddle completely level using a spirit level placed across the front two-thirds of the hull. Because Selle SMP saddles have an ergonomic upward curve at the tail, fine-tune the saddle tilt by 1 to 2 degrees downward if you feel excess pressure on the pubic ramus when riding in the drops.
